Meyer Njus Tanick attorneys Marshall Tanick and Teresa Ayling represented the Firefighters Union Local 4725 in a labor dispute with the City of Brainerd. The Union sued the city of Brainerd under the Public Employment Labor Relations Act after the city restructured its fire department, eliminating all union positions.

While the City initially prevailed on summary judgment before the district court, the Union obtained a reversal from the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The Minnesota Supreme Court granted certiorari and ultimately upheld the court of appeals’ decision. The case will now be remanded to the district court for a determination of damages.
